Obesity doesn’t cause disease, poor diet and lack of exercise cause diseases, obesity is just a side effect.
Almost Right
Fifty years ago the Medical Community saw a correlation between obesity and illnesses. Physicians recommended that patients lose weight to lower the risk of Heart Disease, Diabetes, High Blood pressure, etc..”
Thin isn’t Fit
Decades of being told to lose weight sent the wrong message. It got people thinking “get thin” instead of “get fit”. A lot of thin people suffer from these diseases.
We Can Do Better
The absence of disease isn’t an indicator of good health, but fitness is. If you can lift twice your body weight, if you can run five miles, and if you can do 20 pull ups in a row you’re probably very healthy. Don’t make weight loss your goal this year. Make fitness your goal.

How was that Azodicarbonamide & L-Cysteine sandwich? These are just some of the 44 Ingredients in a Smucker’s Uncrustable Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich. I can’t tell you the negative health effects these chemicals have but I guarantee if I looked into it, it would be pretty shocking.
Poison Du Jour
Many of today’s foods are loaded with preservatives, food coloring, and artificial flavoring that our bodies were never designed to ingest.
My rule of thumb is, stay away from foods listed with ingredients that don’t appear in nature (like artificial sweeteners).
Also on my list are items Doctors advise women to avoid during pregnancy. That’s a pretty good indicator that it’s not doing you any good.
Keep it Simple
My diet consists of unprocessed chicken, Steak, Fish, Eggs, Nuts, Seeds, Fruits, & Vegetables. Every item I buy that has more than one ingredient I check. If I don’t recognize an item in the ingredients I Google it. Sometimes they’re innocuous, and sometimes they’re carcinogenic.

Your body is always talking to you. Every time you feel stiff, tired, hungry, happy, strong, or cranky that’s Bio-Feedback.
Most of us aren’t eating right or sleeping enough so we feel tired. Instead of getting adequate sleep we drink coffee and lumber through the day until five o’clock. This may alleviate short term symptoms but it’s only making things worse.
Imagine driving while running out of oil, as you feel the cars power diminish you just stomp on the gas. That’s kind of what you’re doing.
Listening and hearing aren’t the same
I want you to think about how you feel. After a lifetime of ignoring bio-feedback it takes some work to rebuild your awareness. If you feel good ask why? Every time you get a headache, stomach ache, or back ache I want you to ask yourself what could be the cause?
Clean it up
There are so many items I cut out of my diet as a result of how they negatively affect my body. Artificial sweeteners and Mono Sodium Glutamate give me headaches. Energy drinks give me anxiety. I avoid any foods that give me excessive intestinal gas. That’s a sign that your body isn’t digesting it well, or doesn’t have the enzymes to break it down. And alcohol is an intestinal irritant and decreases performance.
It’s not rocket surgery
You don’t need to be a doctor or a researcher to experiment with your body. Take some things out of your diet you feel may not be helping, add some vegetables, what’s the worst that could happen. Get a full night sleep and start with a good breakfast, maybe you won’t need caffeine.
